How to Measure Windows for Roller Blinds
All you need is a piece of paper, a tape
measure, and pen. By this way, one can easily measure windows for roller blinds.
You can measure twice. You must prefer an
inside or outside mount. Both options look great and the choice is available to
your personal style. But the process for measuring is slightly different.
Here is how to go about it.
1.
Determine inside fit or
outside fit
Inside fit is the
most common option because it gives a clean look which is more appealing than
an outside fit.
However it does
allow some light to get past the outside edges of the blind. If desired this can be minimised by setting
the blind further back into the window frame.
2.
Measure the window:
Measuring technique
To make sure that
your blinds fit properly, please measure accurately to the nearest millimetre.
This is particularly important for inside fit roller blinds.
Unless specified
in these instructions don’t make any adjustments or deductions.
Measure your
window frames twice to make sure that you get the same result each time and to
ensure that it is accurate.
a) Measuring
inside fit
b) Measuring
outside fit
3. How to measure for an 'inside' mount:
For a great
result, make sure you’ve a minimum window depth of 60mm.
Ø To start, draw a square or rectangle on a piece of paper – this is
your window frame.
Ø If you’re measuring multiple windows, give them a label, like
'kitchen window 1'.
Ø Grab your tape measure, then place it within the inside window
recess.
Ø Measure across the inside of frame from one end to the next.
Ø You can do this at the top and bottom of the frame because all
windows aren’t perfectly square. Meanwhile, write down the width of your window
frame.
Ø Measure the length (vertical drop) from the top of the inside recess
to the base of the window sill. Write down the length of your window frame.
Ø Double-check both measurements.
4.
How to measure for
'outside' mount:
If you’re
installing your roller blind to a plaster wall, make sure that you locate a pin
in the wall and make sure that you secure your blind to that pin.
It gives your
blind the support it requires to hold the weight of the blind.
Ø To start, draw a square or rectangle on a piece of paper.
Ø If you’re measuring multiple windows, give them a label, such as
'kitchen window 1'. In this way, you do not get confused later on.
Ø Measure along the width of the window to the opposite edge. Write
down the width of your window frame.
Ø Double-check both measurements.
